Funky DIY

30 08 2008

It was a DIY day. It went something like this, B&Q…DIY…B&Q…DIY…ad nauseum. At least I was looking funky for it all though!!

A Monster Munch

26 08 2008

I’m working at home for a while today, which means I had the pleasure of having lunch with Catherine. We decided to relive our student days and have a Greggs. Believe me, you can’t beat the feeling of skipping out of a lecture on Karl Barth and nipping into Greggs for a sausage roll on the way home - sheer bliss!

Anyway, here’s C tucking into her scran:

Having munched her sandwich, she pounces on a doughnut

Not content with the doughnut, C MUST lick the paper for any traces of cake left behind

A gulp of coffee to wash it all down

Then the realisation hits that there’s no more food to be had!!

**Official Report** Operation White Lightning

23 08 2008

**PRIVATE**

Lieutenant,

Corporal Catherine and I have just completed Operation White Lightning. As you expected it was a tricky stealth mission under the cover of dark, a dangerous operation which could easily have resulted in fatalities. Fortunately, we were successful sir.

Infultrating Cumming territory proved straightforward, with no signs of life in their street. The mission to ‘zoop up’ Ali’s new £60 SpaceStar was completed with a great deal of satisfaction. The racing numbers, ordered from Demon Graphics - number 40 reflecting the male target’s age - were perfect ammunition. We have captured the mission objectives on film for your inspection sir:

That’s Not a Folder

22 08 2008

Yesterday when I was in Oasis buying some jeans, one of the shop assistants told me that she really liked my dress. When I informed her that my husband had actually bought it for me she and a colleague exclaimed ‘Wow, he has great taste!’ I was pretty chuffed because normally I dread going in to shops as I always expect the workers to just sneer down their noses at me and wonder what on earth I am doing there.

Last night, Andy and a lot of the men from church were going out for dinner in honour of Bill who is marrying Elizabeth next weekend. (The girls are going out with her tomorrow night). I was round at Sarah’s and by the time our husbands returned it was pouring with rain - again! When Andy and I got home we both ran in to the house but just as I was stepping over the front door, Andy asked me to run back to car and get a folder he had forgotten from the boot. I kind of humphed and scoffed something along the lines of why-can’t-you-do-it yourself?! as I ran back to the car, opened the boot where there was no folder, just a big sparkly pink parcel!

A parcel which was much more sparkly in real life

Inside was this:

The most amazing jacket in the world ever.

Needless to say, I was pretty chuffed again.

Oh … and do you know what else has great taste? The curry that Andy made us for tea tonight!

Saz’s White Lightning

19 08 2008

Our friends, Ali and Sarah have bought a new car. For some reason Sarah has been after a Mitsubishi Space Star for ages, and today Ali surprised her with her dream car! As you can see, it’s a beauty, and she’s already come up with a nickname for it, ‘Saz’s White Lightning’. Nice.

Saz’s White Lightning

It comes with a few after market special features too, which she’s delighted with……

A Unique Water Feature

Specialist Two-Tone Steel Wheels

Customised ‘Mould-look’ Paintwork

80’s Style Seating Is Back In Vogue

“Low” Mileage!

Sarah’s husband Ali has fallen in love with the car, and is looking forward to being driven around:

So next time your driving along the M90 and you see a flash of white pass you on your right hand side, you know who it was, and what it was. It was Sarah in her beloved Space Star, sorry, I meant Saz in her beloved White Lightning!

Top Totty

23 06 2008

I was working in the office today (as opposed to working at home) and met up with Andy and his mum during my lunchbreak. We went to Hula on Victoria Street where, courtesy of Muriel, I was able to get the last 3 stamps on my loyalty card filled out which means a lovely free latte the next time I go!

Every time I am on Victoria Street, I am sorely tempted by the window display in Totty Rocks. They have some beautiful clothes and if I could afford to, I would probably buy something there every time I go past. But I don’t!

However, if you are rich, you might like to check them out the next time you are passing by. Or visit their website!

New Hair!!

8 06 2008

Catherine booked both of us in to ‘Migele Experience’ in Kirkcaldy to get our locks cut. Catherine decided to take the bold step and get a fringe. I think she was quite nervous about it before hand, but she’s pleased with how it looks:

C’s new fringe

Yesterday (Wednesday) we headed up to Inverness for a few days. This was the first serious outing for our new car, and it performed really well on the open road. For any Police reading this, I drove at 70mph all the way north!

Today we went book shopping and had lunch at Leakey’s before going a drive out towards Fortrose.

Ruin at Munlochy

We stopped at the Clootie Well on the way back to see what it was all about. Apparently you leave an item of clothing hanging on the trees to bring about good luck. What crap.

Clootie Well

“The mingingness of it all” just ended up freaking out Catherine, so we had to leave pretty quickly. It is pretty disgusting and no place for a lady with such a sophisticated fringe.

New Wheels

27 05 2008

Goodbye Civic, hello Clio.

Our new car!

We’ve just bought ourselves a new car, a 2004 Renault Clio 172 Cup! Our original plan had been to buy a Passat Diesel, or something similar but somehow we’ve ended up with a wee Clio. This is no bad thing and we’re both excited by our new car. Catherine had just two requirements when we were considering what motor to get next; that it be a)small and b)silver. The Passats that I’ve been looking at fulfilled neither criteria, but thankfully the Clio ticks both boxes. I don’t pick the car up for a few days but I can wait, it’s not like I’m anxious to get it or anything…..(4697 minutes until I get my hands on it!).

Bank Holiday Rays

26 05 2008

C and I have both been off today, and have spent the whole day out in the garden reading. The weather is amazing!

C chilling out

The only downside to our day is our lack of water - a gas worker has managed to take out the pipe, so we’re left with no running water and no indication of when it’s going to be back on. If you meet us tomorrow and we’re a wee bit whiffy you’ll know why.
