Four years ago we got married. As if by magic, today I have four massive spots on my face!

We decided to celebrate (our anniversary - not the spots) by going out for dinner at an old haunt of ours, The Raj in Edinburgh. It was quite a long time since we had been there and they have done the place up a bit, as well as changing the menu. Still, we had a couple of really good curries before heading to Favorit in the city centre for coffee. It has also been done up since the last time we were there, but they still have coffee and they still have chocolate brownies so we were happy.

Next, we went to catch up with an old friend at the cinema, this time using free tickets courtesy of Coca Cola. That friend was none other than Mr Will Ferrell and it was great to see him again! We went to see his new film Step Brothers and I have never laughed so much in the cinema in my life. I think this is his funniest film so far, but please, do not rush out to see the film on that recommendation alone. Unless of course you want to see a bit more Ferrell for your money than you’re used to, because lets just say it’s a bit ruder than his other films and probably has more swearing too. Anyway below is a trailer which is rated as ’suitable for everyone’ if you want a little taster:

Once we stopped laughing we made our way home via Corstorphine and guess what we saw by the side of the road? … A badger! He was just foraging away, looked straight at us when we slowed down the car to look at him, and then he shuffled off into the bushes. It was pretty cool.

It was a DIY day. It went something like this, B&Q…DIY…B&Q…DIY…ad nauseum. At least I was looking funky for it all though!!

This morning a couple from our church, Bill and Elizabeth, tied the knot. They both looked great (Bill in his sharp, new, taylor-made suit!) and even the weather was perfect! Here’s a couple of photos of their big day;

I was just sitting at the computer checking emails etc and trying to ignore Jay Jay’s constant miaowing out in the hall, but it got to the point that I started to wonder if there was actually something wrong with him (and if there wasn’t I was just going to plead with him to stop being so annoying) so I went out to have a look. This is what I saw:

(Please excuse the washing on the banister. Normally I remove it when people are going to see the house but I didn’t really have the time before taking the picture!)

We recently moved the poster in the background from the living room to it’s current position above the stairs and Jay Jay has obviously been trying to get the pose right ever since. I think he does a pretty good job! Hopefully he’ll stop annoying me now …

I’m working at home for a while today, which means I had the pleasure of having lunch with Catherine. We decided to relive our student days and have a Greggs. Believe me, you can’t beat the feeling of skipping out of a lecture on Karl Barth and nipping into Greggs for a sausage roll on the way home - sheer bliss!

Anyway, here’s C tucking into her scran:

Corporal Catherine and I have just completed Operation White Lightning. As you expected it was a tricky stealth mission under the cover of dark, a dangerous operation which could easily have resulted in fatalities. Fortunately, we were successful sir.

Infultrating Cumming territory proved straightforward, with no signs of life in their street. The mission to ‘zoop up’ Ali’s new £60 SpaceStar was completed with a great deal of satisfaction. The racing numbers, ordered from Demon Graphics - number 40 reflecting the male target’s age - were perfect ammunition. We have captured the mission objectives on film for your inspection sir:

Yesterday when I was in Oasis buying some jeans, one of the shop assistants told me that she really liked my dress. When I informed her that my husband had actually bought it for me she and a colleague exclaimed ‘Wow, he has great taste!’ I was pretty chuffed because normally I dread going in to shops as I always expect the workers to just sneer down their noses at me and wonder what on earth I am doing there.

Last night, Andy and a lot of the men from church were going out for dinner in honour of Bill who is marrying Elizabeth next weekend. (The girls are going out with her tomorrow night). I was round at Sarah’s and by the time our husbands returned it was pouring with rain - again! When Andy and I got home we both ran in to the house but just as I was stepping over the front door, Andy asked me to run back to car and get a folder he had forgotten from the boot. I kind of humphed and scoffed something along the lines of why-can’t-you-do-it yourself?! as I ran back to the car, opened the boot where there was no folder, just a big sparkly pink parcel!

Oh … and do you know what else has great taste? The curry that Andy made us for tea tonight!

Our friends, Ali and Sarah have bought a new car. For some reason Sarah has been after a Mitsubishi Space Star for ages, and today Ali surprised her with her dream car! As you can see, it’s a beauty, and she’s already come up with a nickname for it, ‘Saz’s White Lightning’. Nice.

Over the past week or so we have had nothing but rain here in Fife. The flooding in some parts of the Kingdom has even made the news.

When I got home from work, it was just in time for a huge outpouring of torrential rain. I actually had to sit in the car for about 5 minutes in the hope that it would lighten up a little (which it didn’t) because although I had my umbrella I wasn’t convinced that my laptop bag would be water proof enough to cope with the splashing it was going to get!

Hopefully the pictures will give you some idea of how wet it was. When I did eventually make a dash for the house there were 2 inch deep rivers rushing down the street, so I wouldn’t be surprised if floods hit the headlines again tomorrow.
