Colin has been a busy baby over the last few weeks, catching up with the more senior members of his family. First up was a visit to his Great Grandparents in Inverness, and this time he behaved much better than when they came to visit him. He turned on the charm, and smiled and cooed away so they got to see his good side!

It is perhaps wrong to class Colin’s next visitors as ‘more senior’ but earlier this week he got to meet his Great Uncle James and Great Auntie Isobel. They were up from England and staying in South Queensferry for a few days so we met them for coffee and cake at The Railbridge. It was good to catch up with them as we hadn’t seen them for a few years, and they gave Colin some absolutely lovely gifts. He’s a very lucky boy!

Next was a trip to Glasgow to visit Great Grannie and Grandad, and Grandma was there too. Great Grannie and Grandad hadn’t seen Colin since he was just over 2 weeks old, and now that he is 9 weeks old they saw quite a difference. Again, he was on good form – all smiles – and he enjoyed a visit to the cafe at Pollock House for coffee and cake. Well, he actually slept the whole time we were there, but I certainly enjoyed it!

Back at the house, he woke up and was kept so busy and well entertained that it wasn’t long before he was tired out and back to sleep!

Again not really falling in to the ‘more senior’ category, Colin caught up with his Great Auntie Liz and Uncle Stewart over lunch at Antico, the new cafe at Orocco Pier. Grandma, Granda, Auntie Rachel and Uncle Colin were there too so he had lots of faces to smile at – and lots of willing volunteers to hold him while I ate my cake!

I can’t decide whether to buy Dylan’s Christmas Album or not.

It might be rubbish but C insists on Christmas tunes and other than the Fairytale of New York there ain’t much else out there. Anyone got any ideas for a decent Christmas CD?

I looked over just as C was getting out of the car after church and saw a sight I’ll never forget. She opened the door to get out, got up and, well this is what was left behind her!! It’s poop! Yep, a couple of turds just sitting there!!?!

We both looked down and paused for a few seconds as our brains tried to take in the sight. Then we killed ourselves laughing. The poop didn’t belong to C, but to a dog. For that I am thankful. We still haven’t worked out how they managed to get onto the seat. Perhaps they were on C’s shoes, then on the floor, and then as she picked up her bag to leave the car she might have flicked them up onto the seat. However they got there, they smelt and were far from welcome in my car. It may have been disgusting, and mysterious, but it was very, very funny.

This week STV are running a series of programmes about the 35 people they have shortlisted for the title of The Greatest Scot. I visited the website the other day to see who I could vote for, purely because the very thought of Chris Hoy or JK Rowling winning the title gives me the boak!

I’m a worried father. My son is being made to watch way too much Gilmore Girls. I’m sure that this can only lead to trouble further on down the line.

My dad and I decided to check out the Scottish Opera’s staging of L’Elisir d’Amore on Friday night. It was one of the best nights of music I’ve ever been to! It was surprisingly poorly attended though, with Eden Court only about half full.

It’s a cracking story, with my favourite part being the traveling mentalist, Dr Dulcamara. It’s on in Aberdeen this week, so make sure you head along!!
